Since November 1, 2023, the Swedish Police Authority has issued a decision to ban all bags at major events in Sweden. Whether an event qualifies as a major event will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Swedish Police Authority.

Which events are covered by this ban?
All major events in Sweden are covered by the decision. This means that all concerts, festivals and sporting events that require permission or registration are subject to a total bag ban.
What is considered a major event, and how many visitors does it involve?
There’s no specific visitor limit defined, as each event is individually assessed. The police evaluate each case and inform the Event Organizer of the conditions applicable to that particular event. However, there is some guidance for major sporting events, including Allsvenskan, Superettan, SHL, and Hockeyallsvenskan.
Who's affected by the bag ban?
All event attendees are affected by this decision. However, it is the responsibility of the Event Organizer to ensure compliance with the new conditions.
How will I know the specific guidelines for my event?
The Event Organizer is responsible for informing attendees of the specific guidelines that apply.
Are diaper bags for children included in the ban?
Yes, the restriction includes diaper bags, as the decision is intended to prevent any items that could pose a safety risk.
Are pouches or transparent bags allowed?
No, pouches and transparent bags are also prohibited.
What qualifies as a medical exception?
While no medical certificate is required, the Event Organizer will assess and decide on any exceptions for medical needs at the entry point.
Are all types of bags, such as handbags, included in the ban?
Yes, all types of bags are included.
Why can’t bags simply be searched on-site?
While bag searches have previously been conducted at many events, the Police Authority's current risk assessment has led to stricter safety measures, resulting in a complete ban on bags.
